Carlyle Group agrees to sell Assala Energy for $730 million

F§rench producer Maurel & Prom (MAUP.PA) has reached an agreement to acquire Assala Energy, the Gabon-focused oil and gas company owned by private equity fund Carlyle Group (CG.O), for $730 million, as announced by the companies on Tuesday.

Carlyle International Energy Partners (CIEP), the non-U.S. energy division of the fund, initially invested in Assala in 2017 by acquiring Shell’s (SHEL.L) aging operations in Gabon for $628 million. Photo: Getty Images
